I justed tested the XGL/Compiz window manager for Ubuntu. While it may not be usable for real work yet, as just some virtual workspaces to click are faster, it is immense fun to use. You can place 4 workspaces on the sides of a cube and have awesome graphical effects when switching between them! You […]

XYplorer

Year: 2006

Version: 4.50.0018

Price: free

Rating: 4 out of 5

Windows Explorer is much like the Internet Explorer is - after you’ve seen Firefox you find it lacking many, many features. I was always looking (well keeping my eyes open) for a good alternative. Here I finally found one! XYplorer offers many features! Just try right-click on the tab bar to add tabs. Click and drag files from tab to tab. Add lines and line numbers. Press Ctrl+J to add a filter so that maybe only *.jpg files are displayed (remember to reset the filter to * when you’re done). Press Ctrl+M (or use the right-click menu) to use a selection filter and mark all *000*.jpg for example. Many many more features, I’m sure. AND: It’s free for private home use, but ONLY until March 21st 2006, so go get it!
