Now on my list of things that are totally unnecessary: Audio CDs in 5.1 sound. Why? I don’t even get 5.1 sound in movies. I think it’s totally stupid. If I hear a sound from behind in a movie, I look behind me and wonder why there is sound coming from behind, while a movie […]

Ok ok, so we will get DRM-free music tracks, that’s a great step (Techcrunch article). But in AAC format…prft…oh, at 256kpbs. I don’t care, really. I will encode it down to 128 kbps anyway. And to MP3. But I will not buy tracks at 1.29$ per song. That’s so laughable! Why would I pay MORE […]

There is not much to say here. There has never been another band to concentrate that much energy and complexity. You might have to hear the song a few times before it will begin to mill into your brain without a chance of ever coming out again.

There aren’t many bands that manage to have a truly distinct sound, stay true to their sound and yet somehow manage to evolve ceaselessly. Threshold is such a band. A progressive metal band from Great Britain, thus adapting the typical style of prog that is played there, but stripping away the laziness and pretentiousness that […]

Not much to talk about today, but it snowed today, and I feel the need to note, that the first really low temperatures of this winter came one and a half month late.
I also got a book with the 500 best Rock and Metal albums, and am busy scouring sites for cheap buys off the […]

Now it would only be interesting to know why “Obsession” from the new Space Odyssey album sounds like a copy of “Anno Mundi” from the TYR album by Black Sabbath?
