Thinking when I bought what and setting a time frame is too much work, I would never do this entry if I had to waste some minutes researching that ![]()
So, without order, time marker or the guarantee that it’s a complete list:
Masterplan - MK II
Very good, but not as good since Jorn left. Good hard rock, nice melodies, but missing some power and some ideas.
Pharaoh - The Longest Night
Absolutely excellent power metal album. Released in 2006, it tops my top albums list of 2006. Have to correct it sometime. Traditional heavy metal, fantastic singer, fantastic songwriting. Manages to balance between sounding traditional and heavy and sounding fresh and new.
Machine Head - The Blackening
Great album. Powerful, thrashy, not much to dislike here, only the shouting is annoying from time to time. But the songs are just too good and really grow with every rotation.
Threshold - Dead Reckoning
Very good album. At first I thought: Wow, good refrains and not much else. That changed a bit, it’s a truly excellent album (though the older ones are a bit better still!)
Messiah’s Kiss - Dragonheart
Very solid (true) Power Metal release. Purely enjoyable!
Twisted Tower Dire - Netherworlds
see Messiah’s Kiss ![]()
Jitterbug - New Roses
Intrsumental Prog Metal, really good. You can buy it on their website, found this via http://www.invisibleoranges.com
And some older stuff via EBay etc.:
Labyrinth - Sons of Thunder
What can I say? This album sucks.
Pantera - Far Beyond Driven
Fear Factory - Demanufacture
Cheap classics.
Stygma IV - Phobia
Stygma IV - Hell Within
Stygma IV remind me of Savatage, though a bit more mellow and pretetntious. Still good albums. Found them for only few euros on EBay, so…
Only arrived yesterday:
Heir Apparent - Triad
Only arrived today:
Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
Even after 2 runs I’m pretty certain this is the best Porcupine Tree release!
