Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak

Last month I bought some cheap CDs: Manowar - Fighting the World (which I bought because WGAF included the title song in his #100 songs), Simon&Garfunkel - Sounds of Silence; about which I will talk some other time, but now it’s time for a true classic: Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak.
Of all the classic rock bands, this is one I grew the fondest with in a short while, I like them even better than Led Zeppelin now. One word: Charisma. There’s just some magic sparkling around their songs, and it’s really magic in a tin (or crystal case) with Jailbreak.

The album has a cover that shows the band in a comic-like hero situation, running away from an explosion, watched by the mighty silver overlord. Doesn’t fit the music, but still looks nice.
The album starts with the title song, which is a trademark Thin Lizzy song, easy-going rock music, lyrics telling a story of some poor fellows in prison, and the perfectly fitting voice of Phil Lynnott, sometimes more reciting than singing, always a bit mysterious.
There is not a single weak song on this album, and you will have a new favourite every time you listen to it.
Other hallmark songs are “The Boys Are Back In Town”, which was a huge single success, and the final song “Emerald”, which is even more laid back than the usual Lizzy song. Mastodon did a cover version of this song on some EP, and you can really hear how this song might just have paved the way for the whole remarkable sound that bands like Mastodon have developed for themselves!
I bought tjis CD for just 7€, at this it really is a no-brainer! Get it when you can!
Here’s a video of Jailbreak:
