How can the human race survive the next hundred years?
In a world that is in chaos politically, socially and environmentally, how can the human race sustain another 100 years?
I also created an account to answer. I hope someone reads my post, because in already 20000 it maybe a bit hard to spot. Especially since most posts there are worthless as only few, even if they are elaborately written, contain only a single key idea (or more than one for that matter), which would be scientific.
Here’s my answer. I tried to make one point and to keep the post rather short. I hope it’s not completely worthless:
Dear Mr. Hawking,
I find a primary cause of all problems in a too big inertia in people.
My attempt at a solution would be based on the notion that most constitutions are based on granting people rights for free speech, free development and the likes. I would supplement that by the obligation to develop freely.
Doesn’t seem like much in the beginning but after thinking about it, I see it as a fundemental as it would force people to actually think and question things happening to them, maybe then bringing much more people to the point where they form a sophisticated opinion and voice it.
